# Moving candidates through the pipeline

> Move candidates between stages using the board, list view, and bulk pipeline actions.

You can update the stages of a candidate from the profile as well as the chrome extension. You can also turn on board view and drag/drop candidates to the right stage.

Stardex has a default set of stages for a job that you can customize in [settings](https://stardex.com/settings).

You can change the color, name as well as mark a stage as a rejection or interview stage. You can also drag the ordering of the stages.

* Marking a stage as a rejection stage will allow you to capture specific rejection reasons.
* Marketing a stage as an interview stage will allow it to show up on the home screen to track upcoming interviews.

You can also create a new stage template (aka new sets of candidate stages). This is helpful if a client has a different set of interview stages and you want to track exactly where candidates are for that client / job. Once you create a new template, pick

<Note>
  Once you have created a job, you can’t edit the template for that job because it impacts the tracking / reporting. If you want to force change it, you will need to create a new job with that template, and then bulk move the candidates to that new job
</Note>

In order to create a new, click Create New template in settings. Pick existing stages that you want to keep, and add new ones. Click Create template

Once you create a new job, pick the new template. You will now see the updated stages.

When someone is rejected, the system will ask you to put a rejection reason. This is helpful for all teams to track, and we recommend.

We don't have a way to turn this off explicity yet. For now, you can just click cancel or press escape when you see the modal! If you want to completely hide it, you can always unmark the Rejected stage option next to the Rejected stage. This will tell Stardex to not show the rejection reason modal. This may impact your tracking

#### FAQ

**Q: Can I change the pipeline template on an existing search?** No, you can’t edit the template for that job because it impacts the tracking / reporting.

The workaround is to:
• Create a new search using the preferred template
• Bulk-move your candidates from the old search to the new one — select them via checkboxes in the pipeline view → More → Add to Search, then pick the new search
