# Custom domain for share links

> Use your own domain for client share links with path-preserving URL forwarding.

Below is a quick, **step-by-step** guide that you can use to set up your own custom domain (e.g., `your-custom-domain.com`) to point to a page on your app (`stardex.ai/your-firm-name/job-id-lind`). These instructions assume you have a domain registered with a typical provider (e.g., GoDaddy, Namecheap, Google Domains, etc.).

## Option 1: URL Forwarding with Path Matching

Some domain registrars or DNS providers let you forward **all paths** by appending whatever comes after the slash in the original URL. For example, `your-custom-domain.com/X` → `stardex.ai/client-name/X`. This is sometimes called **“wildcard forwarding,” “path forwarding,”** or **“URL rewrite/redirect with path.”**

1. **Log in to Your Domain Registrar**
   * Go to the DNS or domain management settings for `your-custom-domain.com`.
2. **Find the Forwarding or Redirect Section**
   * Look for “URL Forwarding,” “Redirect,” or “Domain Forwarding” options.
3. **Enable Path Forwarding**
   * You’ll often see a checkbox or option labeled “Forward path” or “preserve path.”

   * You want something like:

     ```
     Source: https://your-custom-domain.com/*
     Destination: https://stardex.ai/client-name/*
     ```

   * Where (the wildcard) appends anything after the slash to the end of the destination URL.
4. **Save & Wait for Propagation**
   * After saving, when someone visits `your-custom-domain.com/1234`, it should automatically redirect to `stardex.ai/client-name/1234`.

> Important: Not all registrars or DNS providers support path-forwarding. If yours does not, you can either:
>
> * Use a service like Cloudflare (which offers page rules for path forwarding).

Note: The browser **will show** the `stardex.ai/client-name/...` URL after the redirect. It’s not purely white-labeled
